What is the difference between logistics and express delivery?

Everyone is probably familiar with express delivery and logistics, especially express delivery. Nowadays, many people choose express delivery when sending items, while a small number opt for logistics. So both express delivery and logistics can be used to send items, but there are still differences between the two. What are the differences between logistics and express delivery?
1. From the delivery method: Logistics generally does not deliver to the door. It can be door-to-door, point-to-point, or door-to-point. Door-to-door delivery usually requires an additional fee. Express delivery generally delivers to the door, focusing on timeliness and receipt confirmation.
2. From the transportation speed: Logistics is generally slower, but dedicated logistics lines can be faster. For example, our company's dedicated line from Wuchang to Shenzhen takes 10 hours, point-to-point. Express delivery speed varies depending on distance and network. For instance, Zhongtong Express from Shanghai or Hangzhou to Wuchang usually ships the day before and arrives the next day. Express delivery is fast and stable in timeliness, while logistics is slower; however, dedicated logistics lines are faster but more expensive.
3. From the transportation mode: Express delivery usually operates on a fixed schedule and route, with several daily trips. It involves scanning, dispatching, signing, and tracking. Logistics transportation is generally not fixed; vehicles depart only when fully loaded. Return trips are more cost-effective. Simply put, logistics transports your goods from point A to point B for a fee. It includes full truckload and less-than-truckload shipments.
4. From the type of goods transported: Logistics generally handles large, heavy, irregular, difficult-to-transport, or one-way goods. It is more profitable if transportation can be done both ways. It can ship liquids, batteries, powders, food, weapons, counterfeit goods, and other sensitive or large, difficult-to-handle items. Express delivery generally handles small, regular parcels; some companies have weight limits of 20kg or 50kg. It cannot ship prohibited items such as liquids, batteries, powders, food, weapons, etc., but occasionally some items may be sent.
5. From the price: Logistics transportation is generally cheaper, but dedicated logistics lines are more expensive due to faster speed and specialized products. Catching a return trip can also reduce costs. Express delivery prices are relatively fixed, with base fees plus additional weight charges, or a set price per kilogram. This applies to both domestic and international express delivery. Express delivery operates on fixed schedules.
