The total social logistics volume nationwide increased from 177.32 trillion yuan in 2012 to 335.20 trillion yuan in 2021. The overall logistics industry is in an upward phase.

　　Under strong demand, China's logistics industry has seen rapid growth in total social logistics costs (including transportation costs, storage costs, and management costs). From 2012 to 2021, total social logistics costs increased from 9.40 trillion yuan to 16.70 trillion yuan. In terms of composition, transportation costs have consistently accounted for more than 50% of total social logistics costs. The cost and efficiency of the transportation industry have a significant impact on the logistics industry.

A lower value indicates higher logistics efficiency and a higher level of logistics development. As shown in the above chart, this ratio in China decreased from 17.45% in 2012 to 14.60% in 2021, showing an overall downward trend, reflecting the gradual improvement in the overall operational efficiency of China's logistics industry. In the future, with further application of modern information technology and increasing specialization and centralization in the logistics industry, China's logistics sector will have greater development potential.
